"Friendly Fire 2" from my series Out of Order on l "Friendly Fire 2" from my series Out of Order on living with a brain injury.

One of the most difficult aspects of living with a brain injury has been navigating relationships in a world that doesn't really understand invisible disabilities. Friendly Fire is about dealing with health advice that often isn't very helpful.
"Trapped in Time" from my series Out of Order abou "Trapped in Time" from my series Out of Order about living with a brain injury. Similarly to my last post this photo is about being trapped in time. Weeks become a blur of medical appointment after medical appointment. Years drag on and my symptoms stay the same. Almost a decade on and I was still trapped in the same place at 25 as I was at 16 when I was injured.

"Ball and Chain" from my series Out of Order. PCS "Ball and Chain" from my series Out of Order. PCS (post concussion syndrome) often feels like I have a ball and chain around my head. I can only do so much, I can't handle every day stimulus and I am held back from life almost like a prisoner. From the neck down I feel perfectly healthy but I am held captive to what my head is able to handle.

I did several photos illustrating my brain injury with a ball and chain around my head in 2017. I built a giant ball and chain prop and photographed myself in different locations throughout Toronto. I wasn't happy with how they turned out and I wanted to make this elevated version with the rock for my show last month.
